Announcement 03 January 2007
The new year has brought a major new step in the story of the proposed
redevelopment of the King Alfred site. The January 2007 issue of
Insight City News (ICN), a free publication distributed across Brighton
& Hove, contains a letter proposing an alternative to the present
proposals. There is considerable criticism of the current plans.
Before now local personalities or members of the business
community have not broken rank and criticised the Gehry design
proposals. Even in previous issues of ICN mention of the proposals was
frequently very favourable. We wait to see the substance of the concept
that was mentioned. The key point is that the short-comings of the
proposed plans are aired and debated before the project is
approved with many flaws..
Concerned residents are urged to make their views known to the Planning
Department at Brighton & Hove City Council. The Planning
Application number is BH2006/03429 and must be stated in any
correspondence along with name and address.
